The more things change, the more they stay the same.

It is with mixed feelings that I must announce that this shall be my last harpy report. Why, you ask? Read further Gentle Reader.

Once again, we met at the historic Tunnels Under Bremerton hosted by Gangrel Overlord, Nathanial Green. The gathering was sparsely attended, but that did not stop various intrusions into the domain of Kitsap.

Some arcane force had burned down two churches, branding them with a fiery eye.

A strange blood plague had surfaced infecting the blood supply by a coterie of ruffian fight fanatics.

Lord Belson’s duties have prevented him from attending to the day to day affairs of the domain and so he elected to gracefully step down. With a nod from the Overlord Nathanial Green, I have seized praxis of the domain of Kitsap.

Overlord Nathanial Green wished me to make the following announcements.

Imperator John Nelson has served this grand Imperium for several years with distinction and honor. At the NOIR Ball in two weeks time, Imperator John Nelson shall be stepping down to pursue personal matters. Residents of the Imperium should have no fear of chaos as Overlord Nathanial Green shall be taking the reigns.

The territory of Tacoma is now an open protectorate of Overlord Green. Kindred settlers will soon be invited to move into this wild city to tame it. If the new residents of Tacoma manage to secure the domain and hold viable gatherings, they will be allowed to petition Overlord Green for a Prince. Please note that this is a wild and lawless city with unknown dangers. Kindred that seek their fortune here must be cunning and bold. Warning: It is not advised to start issuing petitions UNTIL the city has been settled and proven viable.

Overlord Green’s Imperial Court shall be:

Imperial Seneschal: Lord Belson
Imperial Hound: Acrimony

The position of Imperial Harpy is current open, pending Overlord Green’s review of the harpy’s of his cities. As the outgoing Imperial Harpy, I recommend that those that are interested produce regular reports and make them shine.

Overlord Green also wished to note that he *valued* my service to the Imperium and that others should as well.

My final act as harpy is to make a couple of announcements about the future of Kitsap.

I have issued the call of the seasons. On March 6^th, 2009, I shall be accepting petitions from those seeking Court Positions. In addition, I shall be opening a Kitsap Pricus Council to assist in the governing of the domain. It is expected that clans shall present their candidate for vetting at that time. Please note that I shall look harshly upon those that accept a position and then fail to complete their duties. More information to follow.

On March 20^th, 2009, I shall be hosting an Accounting of the domain of Kitsap. Kindred that seek to claim domain within my protection should present their case at this time. Kindred that actively contribute to the domain shall be given precedence.

Once announcements were made, the domain was organized into swift action.

B, Levity, and Zeal quickly investigated the matter of the burned down church

Gabriel della Morretti Sangiovanni and Abigail della Morretti Sangiovanni were tasked with the inquiry into the strange blood plague.

Their journey eventually merged together as they handled a third affair.

Newly arrived Sir Tristan of the Lance made quite the impression. He quickly offered his services to the domain.

Rising Stars:

Zeal has proven yet again that he is not just another pretty face and can think when required. He has been quietly assisting the domain for quite a while. As I recall, it was through his occult research efforts that Uin Nguyen was able to be defeated. He should be *Recognized* for his efforts.

Feared:

Acrimony proved that he was quite the skilled mediator.

Loathed:

Alas, I am disappointed that I have none to mock on my last outing.

I hope that my words that have entertained and educated the masses and made those that I scorn weep bitter tears.

Gentle Readers,

It was my great pleasure to visit the Evergreen Rose Republic this weekend. It was my fortune that the weekend I selected to visit friends happened upon the monthly court date for my friendly neighbors to the south.

I was quite impressed with the organization and the style of the Evergreen Rose Court. It is something that I hope other Courts emulate. Isabella de Espada, Harpy of Portland, elegantly opened the proceedings and then passed the stage to the Court Officers of the Evergreen Rose. The Court proceeded elegantly like a complex dance. Information was quickly disseminated to the public. There were a lot of announcements, which were wonderfully covered by Harpy Isabella de Espada

The most exciting announcement was the opening of Longview to settlers from the Evergreen Rose Republic. It is often difficult to accept new members to a city without endangering the blood supply. The Evergreen Rose now has a new land to conquer and tame. It is a place to make a name and reputation.

Consul Alexinova noted that those kindred wishing to petition for the praxis of this new territory should contact her. Note: If you don’t have the standing to contact Consul Alexinova, you might not be ready to attempt to seize praxis.

The rest of the night was quite pleasant. There was much conversation and cheer. Sir Liam O'Dougherty lead a small group off for an excellent adventure to protect the domain. His bravery and his chivalry were as impeccable as his flame boots were hideous.

The next evening was in Vancouver hosted by Prince Wellington. I fear I arrived a bit late due to my visit to the ever famous Necropolis. My ghoul simply loves those steaks.

When I arrived, there was plenty of excellent conversations. Prince Wellington organized his city to investigate the strange behavior of the “Surprise Snipers.” The details of the investigation are top secret, but I can say that it was good to see each a well organized machine at work.

Rising Star:
Dusty Haze was noted for his *value* to the Evergreen Rose Republic. I’ve spoken with Dusty a couple of times and I was impressed with his insight into how prestation works. The Evergreen Rose is lucky to have him.

Alvise Salverio is a new face in the Evergreen Rose Court, but in the last few months I’ve seen him and his coterie risk themselves several times. Alvise has shown keen insight into politics and the world. I suspect he is going to go far.

Feared:
Acrimony is so feared now that his mere smile seems to send people into panic attacks.

Loathed:
We all have a vision of the world and we might change it. When you move to a new home, it wise to get a full scope of said location before you decide to start trying to rearrange the furniture.

On Friday, the evening of January 16^th 2009, the great and powerful Gangrel Overlord Nathanial Green hosted a gathering. It was an old cabin in the woods Seabec and marvelously decorated.

It was a glorious gathering widely attended by the region. Many were intensely curious about the Werewolf Hunt hosted by Nathanial Green and it was the talk of the night.

Imperator Nelson held a brief court attending by Prince Belson and Prince Rostov. Imperial Primarchs Nathanial Green of the Crone, Typhus of the Lance, and Rhodes of the Invictus were in attendance.

Afterwards, Archbishop Wellington, Prince of Vancouver, eloquently offered the enlightenment Longinus to any that wished to attend a private ceremony for the confirmation of Lady Victoria Cottingham. His voice was strong and inspiring, just as you wish for a powerful leader to be.

As usual, there were a few announcements.

Levity, of the New Flesh, has accepted a position as one of my assistant harpies, known as the Furies. Any record boons with her and they shall be recorded into my book. I am looking for two other assistants. Applicants do not have to be an beautiful amazon woman, but it wouldn’t hurt.
Agony, of the New Flesh, has been confirmed as the Carthian Primarch of the Imperium. I’m certain that she will continue to do her job well.

In other bits of random gossip, it seems that the Marquis DuValmont decided to attempt to have a Marquis-off with the Marquis Du Myra. Popular opinion quickly suggested that the DuValmont was the lesser Marquis and thus it shall be known as such for the future.

*Admired* Carthian Alex Finn sparked an impromptu Carthian Poetry Appreciation discussion. Many were quite impressed with his knowledge of the subject and his talents. A large number of Carthians and others notable kindred came to me privately and let me know how much they appreciated his efforts. However, it seems that conversely Mr. Finn was less than impressed with the Lesser Marquis. After a brief conversation about ideology, it was declared that the Lesser Marquis was really not a Carthian.

Towards the end of the night, Nathanial Green took an intrepid band of hunters into the woods and released the werewolf. Nathanial and I waited near by in obfuscate waiting, ready to assist any that fell to the ground.

The battle was swift but brutal. Mr. Harris took a severe lightning strike and then returned a solid counter attack. Yuri Rostov grappled the beast to the ground while the others were blasting into it with gunfire. Yuri flipped the beast onto his back with his claws, gelding the creature. B rushed forward and blasted the beast in the head killing it.

Rising Stars:
Yuri “Ball Buster” Rostov made quite the dramatic first appearance. I look forward to seeing his future endeavors.

Feared:
When Nathanial Green made his appearance into the Court, there was a visible hush over the crowd. This is the type of fear and respect that only a few ever reach. He wins this award hands down and I believe that none may challenge him.

Loathed:
The wheel always turns. It is rare that one vampire can manage to stay alive and still be so hated and loathed that said vampire’s very name changes. I’ve heard many different new names for this vampire such as Dominion, Betrayer, Flipper, and She That Must Not be Trusted. Or isn’t that the vampire that everyone wants to kill, but she isn’t important enough to actually do the deed? I’m trying to decide which name fits best and others are waiting for you to come to them. I’m curious to see how this goes.

The Del la Moretti family once against hosted a party in Kitsap at their lush estate.

Dr. Gabriel Del la Moretti was quite the host, providing a fun setting and ensuring that everyone was comfortable. Abigail Del la Moretti spent her evening as a proper hostess.

A sizeable number of the Crone attended. Evergreen Rose Republic’s Harpy Claire Marie made a startling appearance. Dr. Del la Moretti presented Claire Marie with the gift of an undead Pom-a-poddle. Sheriff Acrimony was not to be undone and provided the lovely Claire Marie with one of his infamous trap door of truth spiders. The two gentleman had their pets battle for the amusement of the assembled and a grand time was held by all.

Primarch Nathanial Green was in especially good spirits.

The Carthians were also well represented. Agony, Alice, and Max provided stimulating conversation. B certainly turned some heads as he discussed his mother issues with Dusk rather publicly, as well as certain other habits.

The triumphant Prince Vasili Rostov rocked the party as expected.

There was also dancing. Alas, I had several women wanting to dance with me at once. Agony, Misery, and Alice each had their turn with me, but I fear that none of them could quite keep up. Johnny Merducci offered his hand in assisting me with the ladies, but alas he was too slow.

Rising Stars:

The Del la Moretti family has recently moved to the Nelson Imperium and they continue to impress with their hospitality. Seattle’s loss was truly our gain.

Feared:

Sheriff Acrimony and his trap door of truth spiders won the day.

Loathed:

I’m afraid that this list was almost going to be empty and then I remembered Dominic “Douchebag” LaRue. You were mentioned in passing at the gathering. It caused quite the laugh. We haven’t forgotten you.

It was the first evening of a new year and the triumphant Prince Vasili Rostov held a bold celebration.

Olympia is known across the region as a place one can truly have a good time. A number of the movers and shakers of the region made an appearance, such as:

• Primarch Rhodes (in a rare and surprising appearance)

A good party is like sailing. There are tides and ebbs to navigate as collections of conversations coalesce and dissipate. There was a great deal of laughter and celebrations.

I had a most unusual experience. A large number of vampires that I had previously only had the most casual acquaintance wanted to shake my hand or in a few cases hug me. I'm not quite used to such displays of affection, but I can only assume that it was the spirit of the new year.

Captain Silver seemed to have quite the audience for his stories.

Levity attracted quite a few admiring looks.

Levka "Disdain" Alexinova has collected quite a few titles in the last couple of months. Monster that Other Monsters Fear. Pope of the Lance. And now, a new one. By general acclaim, Levka "Disdain" Alexinova was proclaimed the fashionista of the party. His first pronouncement was that the dreaded flame boots of Sir Liam O'Daherty simply had to go.

Prince Vasili seemed quite smitten by Republic's Harpy Claire Marie.

Sir Liam recovered from his fashion faux pas and defended the honor of several ladies of great standing from the attentions of a lout.

I am choosing to avoid naming said lout at this time. I understand that he is new and perhaps doesn't understand that it is expected that visitors to the Nelson Imperium are expected to understand how to behave in public towards members of high standing. After all, this isn't Seattle. More than one lady of standing complained to me about your behavior. Know that your behavior has caught the attention of the harpies.

Zeal seemed to attract a lot of admirers. Sadly, he did not get his Christmas wish. But alas, perhaps next week. I did note that many of the ladies of the court seemed quite interested in his social calendar. Perhaps Zeal should acquire an assistant.

Lady Morrissey divided her time between her covenant and the other guests. It isn't often that you can find someone that can deftly switch from group to group and show respect to everyone. She is well liked and respected. I simply can't wait to see her new musical.

Mr. Wilkins, Olympia Priscus Harpy, was very busy. It is nice to see the social waters flow so freely.

Like any good party, there were unwanted party crashers. It seems that some miscreant has stolen the crown of the triumphant Prince Vasili. Somehow, the werewolves have captured said crown and were attempting to hold it for ransom. Solice, the head of the Olympia Militia, lead an investigation into this theft and I'm certain the crown will be recovered soon.

In a completely unrelated matter, the triumphant Prince Vasili Rostov has declared open hunting season on the lupines with a special prize to those who bring the hides of said lupines to the Prince.

Rising Stars:

Levity has definitely made the scene and made quite the impression. She was seen rubbing elbows with the mighty and the important.

Feared:

Levka "Disdain" Alexinova, Lord of the Fashionistas, has shown that there things that are worse than an arrow to the chest. It is one thing to kill. It is another thing to be on the Worst Dressed List.

Loathed:

I shall leave this section empty for now in the spirit of the hope for the New Year.

Fear and Loathing: 2008 in Review

The time between Christmas and the New Year is a quiet time for the mortals. This reflects in kindred society as well. Something about this time brings out a mellow streak.

It is also a time when mortals and immortals alike begin to truly feel the pressure of the elements. Vampires in remote areas begin to feel their beast keenly and a special few vomit bile on the internet.

As I pondered the last year in anticipation of writing this article, I reflected on the many changes I witnessed. Some of these changes were specific to the Macabre Danse and others affected the mortal world.

Often a harpy will concentrate on misdeeds and scandal. These bits of misbehavior are attention grabbers and let’s face it; vampires feed off rumors almost as much as blood. However, I think it is equally important to point out the good examples as well.

I have considered what has happened over the last year.

Feared List:

Universal Gravity. Why should one fear a universal constant? Because it is just that. Universal. Universal and immutable laws that exist everywhere. Sometimes, it feels as though reality bends, but this year showed that there is plenty to fear from the world and that hiding only makes you weaker not stronger.

Boons. Boons have made a big return this year. The trading or applications of boons were leveraged in many ways changing many domains and even the entire region. It is no longer fashionable to avoid boons or attempt to trade in favors to seem less stuffy.

Harpies. Harpies have shown that they have a reason to be feared. Many harpies across the world have reminded kindred society why such a position exists. Harpies such as Audra Jetter have shown that we protect the safety of boons. Harpies such as Claire-Marie of the Evergreen Rose Republic show that we are the conscience of kindred society. Harpies such as Angelina from Eugene show that even a new harpy can make a difference in a troubled domain.

Loathed List:

Internet Vampires. Yes, there are vampires that exist almost entirely on the chatting rooms and the internet. It is a strange and recent phenomenon that has shifted our society. It is a brave new world where new terms such as e-balls and internet courage are now a solid part of our lexicon. Sadly, I feel as though this has dulled the bite of our best predators.

Sniveling Vampires. I never thought I’d see a time when kindred society would tolerate such a lack of etiquette and ignoring of social rules and mores. There are consequences for acting like a douchebag and getting everyone wet with your spouting. These vampires fail to accept the horror that they are truly responsible for their own actions and the consequences that fall on them.

The Strix. They have returned this year, not with a bang, but a loud wheeze. These retarded mystical spirits are much like that annoying stalker you can never get rid of; that creepy ex-girlfriend that never really gets the hint. Do they even have a plan? On the bright side, they seem to hate internet vampires as much as I do.

Fear and Loathing in Vancouver: Mist on the Wind 12/27/2008

Vancouver is one of those cities at the cutting edge of kindred society. The Evergreen Rose is an interesting experiment of kindred government worthy of the Carthian Movement. It is the rare vampire institution that has clear and defined laws and rules. It is exceptionally rare to have such a Republic continually enforce those laws for the protection and benefit of all of its citizens and visitors.

The evening in Vancouver was pleasant as usual. Prince Wellington and his court deserve a special kudos for their continual hospitality to visitors and guests. I have seen Vancouver show such kindness to visiting Princes and rank neonates.

When a couple of mystical miscreants began to cause problems, Prince Wellington turned lemons into lemonade and allowed a cross section of the residents and visitors to hunt down these fools. The problem was that these creatures turned to mist whenever they were defeated and disappeared into the astral realm. Who are they? Why were they acting like tools? How could we find where they were coming from?

I must admit that the idea for their defeat came to me as I talked to many of the guests and citizens of Vancouver. I knew how to defeat them, but the problem was how does one find mindless monsters that simply seek to sate their pleasures? The solution was elegant. Provide them with young virginal women.

Alas, I haven’t seen a virgin in many ages. Thankfully, Alice Liddell, Ashelle, Agony and Mr. N agreed to serve as bait for our cunning plan. These brave volunteers demurred themselves and ventured out into the darkened alleys of downtown Vancouver.

Mr. N donned a lovely floral dress, Agony put away her weapons and pulled out her lipstick, and then Alice broke the heel of her shoe. It was as though the waters had been properly chummed. The wayward monster came forward eager to bite the bait.

The rest of us were hidden in obfuscate under the watchful protection of Sheriff Boone, Prisci Jack Greagson, and Prisci Sergi Alexinova. Once it was masquerade safe to do so, the hunting party let loose an impressive destructive force. As usual, the monsters turned into blue mist and faded away.

This time, we were ready and I followed them into the twilight realm to their home base. I reported the information to Prince Wellington. I’m certain that Vancouver will continue to meet this strange new threat and continue their usual operations.

Rising Star:

Alice P. Liddell showed off her ingenuity by breaking the heel of her shoe. After the monster believed her to be an injured gazelle she physically bested him by tearing into him with her claws. She’s incredibly handy. Surely, the 187’s must be proud of her.

Feared:

Prisci Sergei Alexinova took the initiative to gather up a group to tackle the problems of the domain. And then he wielded a spear against our would be assailant to protect kindred and kine alike.

Loathed:

Master of the Blue Mist. You can’t hide in magical Narnialand forever and plot your schemes to take over the world. And now we know where you live. Soon, you too will be mist.

It has been a busy time in the NorthWest.

Alas my gentle readers, I haven’t had the time to properly capture all of the events. I’ve received many messages from well wishers and a few from franticly addicted fans demanding my latest harpy report. Alas, my time had been captured by the Holiday Spirit and I have been unable to get to my computer before now.

Olympia had a sterling gathering on the good Captain Silver ship on the 11^th of this Month. It was a jolly gathering filled with footraces, Christmas presents, and lessons learned. The triumphant Prince Vasili Rostov showed that he always gives the best Christmas presents. I believe a simple quote from Acrimony can summarize the evening perfectly. “Oh please, Uncle Vasili. Please Uncle Vasili! You got everyone else Christmas gifts! Please make my Christmas wish come true.”

On the 13^th of this month, Seattle held it’s annual Yule celebration titled the Longest Night Ball hosted by Tony “Grim” Soloman. It looked like quite a bit of time and effort had been put into the event. It was truly a pity that I was unable to see most of it as my party was detained at the door over a trivial matter. Resolving it took far longer than I would have expected. I’m certain most of you have heard the story by now. I won’t bore you with the details. Best wishes to Prince Moore. He has a difficult job ahead of him.

And finally, it was the weekend before Christmas, and Mother Nature was about to show the NorthWest why she was a bitch. Consul Olivia Nova of the Evergreen Rose Republic announced that she was going to host a Court at the Russian Opera House in Vancouver.

The entire building was immaculately decorated with sparkling lights and festive Christmas trees. It was a grand affair that had gathered a large collective of luminaries from across the region despite the snowy weather. It was nice to see a collection of friends on such a cold night. Friends and connections make all of the difference in a kindred’s requiem. The Evergreen Rose is well-known for its hospitality. Visitors are always greeted with warmth. It is always a pleasure to arrive at a gathering and see such smiling faces. Put simply, it was the premiere social event of the season. Kudos to the Republic for stealing the spotlight from the rest of us.

Mister Jerry Tomlin took forth the effort to gather and display artwork from a variety of different artists from across the region in celebration of the opening of a new artistic guild. It was a joyous gathering with much celebration and fellowship. I heard laughter and joy from every corner of the Opera House.

It should be noted that the large majority of the support from this effort came from the Invictus. I think that the Invictus of the Northwest showed why most consider them to be proper patrons of the arts. Kudos to all involved.

Jerry Tomlin announced a contest to determine the name of this new guild. The winner would be allowed a commission from said guild. Sheriff Acrimony of the New Flesh won said contest proclaiming that the guild would now be titled “The Most August Order of Virtuous Patricians.” He is already working with the guild on a play titled “The Columbia Tower and the Cursing of Seattle.” It has already been decided they will be offering to show said play in local domains. I very much look forward to seeing such efforts.

Consul Nova held her court in the customary fashion with style and alacrity. I’m certain that the local harpies will capture most of the details of the various announcements. I do want to issue a couple of congratulations.

Liam O’Daherty was *recognized* for his service to the Republic. Please file this under I told you so.

Isabella de Espada was announced as the Prince’s Harpy of Portland. I have spoken to Bella often and I’m certain that she will do quite well in the future.

Bergan announced that stepping down as Sheriff of Portland and accepting the Prisci of the Nostferatu within the Republic. I’m told that Mr. Bergan’s star has risen as he has recently claimed an Ordo position of Grandmaster of the Northwest within the Axe. Very impressive.

Afterwards, there was a hush over the gathering. It seems that the depression that often hits those in the NorthWest during the holidays hit that loveable scamp Acrimony. “Alas, I feel as though I might weep Sorrow. Or perhaps, I shall make others weep for I have no more tears.”

“But what could be wrong, Acrimony? You’ve gotten your Christmas wish from Uncle Vasili? And you even received a bonus from the man in the red suit.”

“My love has been taken from me. Perhaps, I shall steal yet more Christmas joy from those I scorn.”

Would there be yet more weeping before Old Saint Nick made his yearly trek? Would that kidnapped child ever see his father?

It was then that the Christmas miracle occurred in the form of Consul Olivia Nova. She spoke to the monster known as Acrimony and explained why this was a time for peace on earth and goodwill towards man and beast. She spoke of the true meaning of Christmas and then for a brief moment Acrimony’s heart grew ten times its former size and the spirit had possessed him. He became so overjoyed with the season of giving that he ripped off his own arm and gave it to Lady Ashe and Levity and declared that he would not murder…until the New Year.

Rising Stars:

Jerry Tomlin showed that the Invictus had much to offer the Republic. I hope that others of his covenant take notice of his efforts.

Feared:

Olivia Nova showed that with soft words she is ever so much more potent than a dozen braggart vampires with little or no courage to live in a world with gravity and rules. Anyone that can tame a monster with the sound of her voice should be respected and feared.

Loathed:

Alas, this time I’m not going to name names. Why? There’s already a naughty list being shared by the harpies of this fine region. It will be checked twice and released. Let the naughty beware.

And thus gentle readers, my report is finished.

Come the New Year, we can once again plot and scheme. We can sharpen our fangs, claws, and knifes.

As the nights in the Northwest become longer, the air becomes quite cold and bitter. The blood slows and many sleep through the winter.

On Thursday, Prince Vasili Rostov held an intimate gathering at the Rostov Interfaith Gathering site. It was a very well behaved gathering. I noted that there were a number of pleasant conversations.

Anna Rostov, Seer, enthralled a number of the court with her frightening accurate readings. Prince Vasili is quite lucky to have such a person working for him.

I had an interesting conversation with Mr. N and Alvise Salverio as we strolled the grounds. I appreciate the company.

I spoke at length with Massimo Bianchi and heard of his formal joining into the Carthian Movement. It seems that he has decided that his family will seek out and join Covenants. Interesting change of events.

It is my honor to announce that Kitty has stepped into serving as the voice of Primarch Typhus until his return. I haven’t had a chance to speak with Kitty just yet, but she might wish to contact me about certain matters that have come to my attention.

On Friday night, the Della Morretti hosted a quiet party to celebrate their move to the Kitsap domain. There was a great deal of cheer in the old tradition of Boxing Day. There was delightful dancing. Agony and Acrimony sang a charming duet that fit within the theme of the holiday. One day a year, even I can feel a bit of mirth.

I’m told that there was even a house warming party elsewhere, complete with Christmas games and cheer.

And I’d like to announce that I have written a new guide titled Sorrow’s Incredible and Invaluable Guide to Surviving Immortality. I’ve seen many vampires of late make mistakes that could have easily been avoided if their sire had paid any attention to them before releasing them.

Loved:

This category has been put in by request, much to my protest. Uncle Vasili has asked me to list Myself, Sorrow of the New Flesh here. He even made me say my whole name. He said to say I really deserved it for performing my duties with remarkable diligence and proficiency. I can hardly go against the word of one of my Princes.

I had a delightful time with my dance partner. You know who you are.

Feared:

Anna Rostov showed a cunning insight that delighted and enthralled many. I found myself curious to see what might be seen from her eyes. I wondered at the power hidden there.

Loathed:

The ironically named Sun God made an indirect appearance at the party in Kitsap. Yes, it seems that he can cut himself and bleed. And then turn that blood into a very cute kitten. I shudder at the power of the Sun God. Yes, I tawt I taw a puddy cat.

On November 28^th 2008, Prince Graham Wellington hosted yet another gathering in the fine city of Vancouver. A mix of the usual locals, interesting visitors, and strange occurrences made for quite the gathering.

The first bit of interest was the alleged death of Anakesh the Apophis. I say alleged because it was the topic of much mocking and laughing. I dub thee Anakesh the Dumbass. You start offering to sell information and secrets and then when you realize that people were ratintg you out, you suddenly disappear and fake your death. That’s amateur hour. You really expected us to believe you were dead?

My first encounter of the evening was the lovely and talented Angelina, newly crowned harpy of Eugene, Oregon. The last time I had seen her was at a wedding. It is always a pleasure to speak to a fellow harpy, especially one that gets it. The delightful Angelina was quite interested in making ties and friendships for her city. She proved to be quite the ambassador for Eugene, which to put it very kindly, that’s quite the challenge these days. And I’m not just saying that because she said my stupendous and yet practical guide to boons was brilliant.

Eugene also had a couple of other friendly visitors to the fine city of Vancouver. I noted that the nosferatu James Banks was quite eager to please and be of help to the city. It was said by many that he was a trouble magnet, but I found him to be quite charming, if a little strange for his constant desire to rub up against me.

The always delightful deava Mr. N made a solid appearance in his dapper top hat. I’m glad to see him making the rounds. I knew that he would quickly traverse the dangerous waters of kindred politics and I am glad to see my expectations met.

I am pleased to report that Vancouver demonstrated the warm hospitality for which it has become known for across the region. Nosferatu Whip Boone made certain that his guest was taken care quite efficiently. Prisci Levka "Disdain" Alexinova took time out of his busy schedule to ensure that his clan had the proper evening. Sergi Alexinova spent quite a bit of his evening conversing with the weary travelers building bridges and relationships.

I know that this is something that should happen at every gathering, but I feel that sometimes proper etiquette and politeness is forgotten and it should be on occasion noted. The hosts always have an obligation ensure the reasonable comfort of the guests. Conversely, the guests have a duty not to abuse this obligation and to follow to rules of the hosts. It is often with this delicate relationship is thrown out of balance that problems occur.

Consul Nova and Prince Wellington hosted a delightful table chat in the corner making that careful balance between the duties of office and the duties as host.

Alas, the evening was not as peaceful as it could have been. An order of mortal knights and vampire hunters gathered and decided that it would be a keen idea to summon forth a demon to help them fight vampires. Or to get rid of the demons so they could fight vampires. It was never very clear.

A host of local defenders rushed to the scene to ensure the safety of the domain. Those that I was aware of included Prisci Morrissey of Clan Gangrel, Tate Whip of Clan Gangrel, Boone Whip of Clan Nosferatu, Jack Gregson, Primogen of the Invictus, Agony, Solace, Liam O’Daherty, Bella, and Papo.

Sir Liam O'Daherty gallantly defended the ladies while the enchanting Bella used her wiles to entrance the knights and got them to confess their sins. Even this gentle harpy got involved astrally. And when I returned to my body, a lovely lady was sitting in my lap. That’s what I call hospitality. The matter was over rather quickly.

At the end of the gathering, there was an argument between two gangrel. The matter was resolved with boons and thus never needs to be spoken of again.

Rising Stars:

Jack Gregson, Primogen of the Invictus, used his brain to fight for the domain and protected the masquerade. Classy move.

Angelina, Harpy of Eugene, showed that a rose can grow anywhere. I have high hopes for her. Prince Ritcher would be wise to listen to her advice.

Boone, Whip of the Nosferatu, was the go to guy for the night. I was as surprised as anyone. He’s turned a corner.

Feared:

Consul Olivia Nova won this weeks title. She manages to be both intimidating and demur at the same time.

Loathed:

Anakesh the Dumbass. You once bragged to me and mine about being the superior predator. And then, of course, you lied about your accomplishments and we resisted laughing at you because we are fond of your childer. Faking your death? Does that work anywhere? Seriously. That was your clever plan? Hide for a couple of months and then return in a different identity. That never works.

The tragic part of this saga is that your fate is completely of your own making. You screwed up politically, but not in such a way as to not recover. It would be simple enough. We have a system designed for such occurrences. I know that someone that believes they are the apex predator would never read the works of a lesser vampire, but I highly recommend reading my guide to boons.

But, I pride myself on knowing those around me. You will not bend. You will hold tight to your claims to godhood and that you will not yield. And thus, you will dig yourself deeper and deeper becoming ever more desperate until you become a danger to yourself and everyone around you and the holders of praxis must take action.

There are some gentle vampires that often ask why is the death of a requiem needed? It is because of moments such as these. It is because some vampires refuse to use the system created to ensure that we don’t murder each other on a nightly basis. It is because some vampires believe they are gods and that no laws apply to them.

When I lived in Seattle, I always looked forward to Saturday nights.

A quiet drink at Charlie’s. A quick bite at Neighbors. A visit to the piano at the Cloud Room.

And of course, the Smith Tower. The Chinese Room has long been a favorite tourist destination. It has several interesting artifacts donated by the last Empress of China.

Lord Andrew Moore hosted a gathering to discuss recent events in the occult. Sadly, I suspect that they were unable to complete their mission as a vast number of vampires from the Nelson Imperium and the Evergreen Rose Republic arrived.

I was a bit disappointed that there was a lack of Seattle members there. Perhaps, word had leaked. I’m told that Citizen Prince Tanner O’Neil wanted to be there but alas he couldn’t get time off from his day job. As some of you might not know, the good Citizen Prince Tanner O’Neil spends his nights driving around in an ambulance and protecting the mortal citizens of Seattle.

It is rumored that he might wear tights while doing this. However, this gentle harpy has yet to confirm it.

You might have noticed that that I mentioned that Acrimony was in attendance. Those in the know might report that this horrible monster had been previously banned in Seattle under Prince Cullpepper and it had been upheld by Citizen Prince Tanner.

It comes as no surprise that Acrimony would listen to a superior predator such as Cullpepper. Likewise, it does not come as a shock that such a monster would completely and utterly ignore such a milquetoast vampire with such a weak requiem.

Lord Andrew Moore was put in quite the awkward position by his lackadaisical Prince. Some of the nastiest predators in the region were present and he had to honorably enforce an edict by a Prince too weak to enforce it.

He strode into the middle of the fray boldly and confronted Acrimony and ordered that he leave.

Acrimony apologized and let it be known that he was not allowed to leave since his Prince, Lord Belson had ordered his presence.

I would like to note that at this point only one vampire in Seattle went to support Lord Moore. The impressive Gangrel known as Jack.

It might have come to blows, but Lord Moore’s steadfast aura of command calmed the situation. His strong predator’s heart forced submission to his will. Thankfully, Lord Moore issued mercy to Acrimony due to a boon paid by Disdain. Being in the presence of a true predator in charge allows one to feel safe and secure.

Afterwards, the evening was quite pleasant.

Some of the Seattle residents wondered why so many of the most important creatures in the region felt obligated to come to Seattle and speak to the absent Citizen Prince Tanner. Traditionally, there has been a gentleman’s agreement that Seattle looked to its own affairs and the rest of the region let them drop out of the regional political game.

So why did so many come to Seattle

Why indeed?

I suspect that there was a host of different reasons. I’m going to share my unofficial thoughts with you.

Tanner O’Neil has always been a controversial figure due to his believe that vampires are a disease. Yes, you heard this right folks. Mad Dog Tanner thinks we’re all a sexually transmitted disease.

Mad Dog Tanner is known for other strange ideas. I’m told that during one attack upon the city by the Brood that he demanded that none of the warriors of the city kill the attackers. Yes, he wanted to cuddle with them and explain to them how to be better vampires and that they were just a disease.

One of Mad Dog Tanner’s laws is that “the right of destruction extends to all mortals in Seattle and ghouls. This includes in cases of protecting the masquerade. If you got yourself into trouble, you can get yourself out of it without murder.”

That’s right, gentle readers, saving the life of a single mortal is more important than the masquerade. I’ve heard a number of important monsters wonder if Mad Dog’s light touch would work in protecting the Masquerade.

Let’s see how this has worked.

I’ve counted roughly a dozen different potential masquerade breeches since Mad Dog took office, including the kidnapping of an entire high school football team. I can understand that sometimes shit happens and the guys in charge have to do what they can to fix things.

The best you could do was to return them without any memories? Really? That was the best you could do? Returning them beaten and bloody with no memories? You couldn’t make up a gang fight, football/cheerleader orgy, or bus accident?

There is another issue that has been brought up that has been dear to my heart. Boons. It seems that Mad Dog Tanner doesn’t believe in boons. He seems to think that they are outdated and useless.

After a regrettable incident with Doctor Gabriel De la Morietti in Seattle, Acrimony was banned from Seattle. Acrimony later spoke with Gabriel De la Morietti and a boon was exchanged. Doctor De la Morietti was so pleased with the arrangement that he moved to Kitsap to live under the protection of Sheriff Acrimony. When told about this, Mad Dog said he didn’t care if a bribe was paid. Really?

Further, when “the Stain” Fatima Beauchane fled the Nelson Imperium to attempt to escape owing a lifeboon, Mad Dog Tanner let it be known that he didn’t care about Fatima’a lifeboon.

Several monsters started to wonder if boons owed by Seattle would be honored? I know several harpies across the land started asking me about this topic.

And then of course, there was an issue of respect. Seattle has always had a reputation for being isolationist. I think most found that acceptable. I believe when a Prince, Imperator, or Consul visits, they expect respect. Personally, anyone that can snap their fingers and an army of monsters are willing to do horrible, horrible things to you, I highly recommend that you respect them.

I have noted in the past that some showed less than respect to those important in the area. The rogue Jose Cuervo made a lot of claims on behalf of Seattle. Mad Dog Tanner was quick to deny these claims in the privacy of Seattle, but he couldn’t be bothered to send a message to the rest of the region. Despite various important people attempting to work with him on this.

And here is the rub of the problem

I spoke at length with Jack on this topic. I explained that this situation could only happen in Seattle. Every other domain in the area has strong ties with each other. We make alliances, we trade boons, we create bonds. There is strength in unity. One would think that Carthian Prince would understand this concept better than most.

You can either completely isolate yourself or you can be part of the larger community. You can’t do both successfully. To be part of the world, you have to let the world touch you.

Afterwards, there was a great deal of fun to be had. I enjoyed the company of Professor Ellison and I wanted to say that I appreciate his help on a private project to be announced later.

Rising Stars:

Jack, Gangrel Carthian: You showed a great deal of intelligence and insight. I can tell you will take what was said to you and build something.

Feared:

Lord Andrew Moore. The most powerful thing in the world is a man of conviction. You proved yourself a superior predator in the eyes of many.

Loathed:

David Talbot. I can understand the urge to help out someone maybe in trouble. And I can even understand an urge to contact your Prince. You did it poorly. Several noted how you tried to insert yourself when the big boys were talking.

Lock. I want to make note that this creature is not the *respected* Aaron Locke, Keeper of Elysium in Kitsap. This fellow is an example of everything that is wrong with Seattle. He thought it would be funny to make comments under his breath about one of the more potent predators in the room. If it weren’t for the utter respect the rest of the region has for Lord Moore, I shudder to think of the punishment that might have been levied. After all, I hear that Acrimony is seeking to try out his new punishment titled Fifteen Minutes of Hate.

Lock, you have only been given a reprieve. It is my suggestion that you seek out the monster you offended and offer a boon. I do not know this monster very well, but he is reputed to hold boons sacred. If you don’t understand why, I’d advise reading this.

It has been said that at a dinner party one should eat wisely but not too well, and talk well but not too wisely. This past evening, there was a party hosted by Papo.

Who is Papo?

Answer: Carthian. Gangrel. Papo is the guy that always knows twenty other guys that can help you. The guy that’s so connected that he can pick up his cell phone and have a hundred pipe-hitting mother fuckers at your back.

In Cuba, Papo is the name you used for a familiar friend. A brother from another mother.

That is what Papo means to me.

The setting was an old warehouse that had seen better days near the Puget Sound. Papo provided a variety of quite tasty blood for everyone to drink and participate.

Despite the lack of a lavish setting, a number of luminaries attended this swinging party. The wise know that the best parties are made by the people and scene, not the setting.

The Invictus made a surprise appearance. You might even say they made out like gangbusters.

Prince Belson, Imperial Seneschal of the Nelson Imperium, came dressed to kill.

The triumphant Prince Vasili Rostov looked quite Pimp’in as they say in the hood. On his arm was the *valued* Carthian, Lady Agony. Is there a romance brewing?

Newcomer to these parts, Alder Aiwyn Laureatus made quite the impression. He was quite the charmer. I found him quite interesting.

The Acolytes of the Circle of the Crone were also quite impressive.

Imperial Primarch of the Crone Nathanial Green was so gangster that he could claw you and then you’d apologize for making him make the effort.

Sheriff Acrimony ensured that none would forget that these lands were under his protection.

Lady Ashe was rocking a “tight” outfit as they say.

Doctor Gabriel De la Morietti and Wendy De la Morietti were quite stylish. They were acknowledged by Prince Belson last week as members of the domain of Kitsap and the Nelson Imperium.

The Carthian Movement made sure that they had the numbers to represent.

Mistress Agony as mentioned looked quite stunning.

*Valued* Carthian B also made a welcomed appearance.

*Valued* Carthian “Big Poppa” Vincenzo let the rest of us know what was what.

Imperial Primarch Viloktisce Karkarov represented the Dragons.

The party went into full swing rather quickly. The blood and the pimp juice flowed. There was much laughing.

Sadly, the homeless guy with the magical flashlight returned to drag off the Crones into a fight of good and evil and magic raccoons smoking cigars.

Also, there was a guy that decided to call himself the Sun God. What a fucking poseur!!! You want a sacrifice? I believe one is going to be delivered to you, but not the one you want.

When a bird was sent forth to harass Prince Belson, the Carthians nailed it to the ground with claws. Papo, Vincenzo, and B went to make sure that this wouldn’t ever happen again.

In the end, the party ended like most great ones, with a slight hangover and at least one person wondering where they left their pants.

Rising Stars:

It was noted by at least one august prince present that Lady Ashe had been quite respectful and demure this evening. I also noted it and thought it should be praised.

Likewise, Lady Agony was complimented on her demeanor. Surely, she is rising in the scene.

The surprise guest was Jack from Seattle. He had been told a number of wild stories and yet had braved the wilds to leave Seattle and see the rest of the region. He proved to be quite astute. He was respectful and the monsters approved and thus he is praised. A lesson to be learned.

Feared:

Papo gains major points. When the self proclaimed Sun God decided that he wanted to screw with the party, he showed why a gangrel with claws should not be fucked with.

Loathed:

The Sun God. Really? The Sun God? You are no god. You are a loser. In fact, your new name is Ice, Ice, Baby. Let no one else call this pathetic wretch a god. If you want to impress yourself with evil, try another domain with weak vampires.

On the 18th of November in the year 2008, Agony once again hosted a gathering at the Shinju Hari in Kitsap, Washington. This time, the evening was a delightful Daeva party.

A proper hostess knows that to have a supreme party once must have occasional activities mixed with the time and space for your guests to mingle. It was generally acknowledged that Agony pulled off this event with grace and style.

In addition, there was a host of others equally delightful that made the scene dressed to the nines very eager to win the best dressed contest.

As with any good party, the best bits are always in private. I did manage to catch various snippets here and there.

The triumphant Prince Vasili offered mentorship to Zeal so that he might teach him how to act in a fashion befitting a proper gentleman. It was noted that said tutelage might make Zeal doubly dangerous as he is already far too charming.

I heard a couple of important people say that they were quite impressed with the showing of the Invictus such as Liam O'Dauherty and Isolde Lance.

A former resident and *valued* Carthian B made a surprise return to the domain. No doubt, hearing that the members of his blood were hosting a party he came to mingle and be seen. His presence and presents were quite welcome.

Imperial Primarch Viloktisce Karkarov noted that he found Misery to be quite charming and that the Lance was in good hands until Imperial Primarch Typhus returns.

Prince Vasili and Prince Belson expressed an opinion that they felt that Lady Ashe was a *valued* member of the domain, but that they had understood why she had been reduced in standing. I spoke to Lady Ashe and she promised to try very hard to behave as a *valued* member of the Nelson Imperium. It speaks well of Lady Ashe that two princes would praise her so. I trust that she will not let them down, if she does I'll be watching and waiting.

It was discovered that there was a potential masquerade breech by Taa'eese'he Poeso of the Crone. It seemed that a naughty vampire had killed a family and had not been too discrete about it. Acting Primarch Misery organized a small investigation team that consisted of Levity, Malice, Taa'eese'he Poeso, and Ravive. They returned with information about this foul miscreant.

Sheriff Acrimony led a small group to track down this criminal. B used his police contacts to discover that the monster had struck again, only this time he left behind a witness in the form of a little girl. Levity and I secured the girl while Liam aided. We ensured that her memories of the night would not be tainted with monsters. Taa'eese'he Poeso tracked down the beast that risked the Masquerade and then the crew explained to it why doing such deeds is a bad idea in Kitsap. I'm told that part of that explanation included a proper skinning. Yes, you read that correctly.

Towards the end of the gathering, Agony called for a tally in the best dressed competition.

At the beginning of the evening, each guest was given one blue and one red chip. Each guest was instructed to give the blue chip to the best dressed man and the red chip to the best dressed woman.

Two were tied for the best dressed gentleman. Sir Liam O'Daherty looked quite dapper and I'm told quite "sexy." Prince Belson showed that his political insight was matched by his taste. Very much a sharp dressed man. Agony called forth for any late additions and the good Prince Belson received another chip pushing him to victory.

Two were also tied for best dressed lady. Lady Ashe looked quite simply divine in her slinky champagne colored dress. I could well understand why she calls herself a goddess. Consul Nova was elegant and alluring in a corset and cape. Again, Agony called for any late additions but it seems these two lovely creatures made the heads of the court spin and a tie it remained.

Next was the much anticipated footrace. Many at the gathering chose to participate in one form or another. Doctor Gabriel Morietti summoned forth a spirit of the dead named Baron Samedi to participate. Yes, you heard it here first folks. Agony's parties are so awesome that even the dead rise to come and play.

Let it be known that the squirrels in Kitsap are fiercesome foes. It was a close race. At the last moment Vincenzo DelGado pulled ahead, literally clawing his way to victory after maiming a black bear that attacked him mid race. Only a step behind, Liam O'Dauherty finished and won the second token of Agony's Favor.

Rising Stars:

Taa'eese'he Poeso has been a quiet member of this domain, but I think that it is time that she is *recognized* for her efforts. Anyone that protects the masquerade has my attention.

Agony has hosted most of the gatherings in the last couple of months. She has spent a great deal of time and effort ensuring that the gatherings are masquerade safe and fun. I was told by a number important people at the party how much they *value* her contributions to the domain. Let it be known.

Feared:

Vincenzo DelGado ran a race and pimp slapped a bear. He PIMP SLAPPED a bear.

Acrimony continued on his streak. I think everyone knows why. He is a walking brown note; every time he passed by mortals and vampires soil themselves.

Liam O'Daherty won second place in both the best dressed gentleman and the race. And, he helped take down a raving Gangrel. His superiority is noted.

Loathed:

The domain behaved quite nicely.

And now I shall end this report with the following caveat. I am watching those that make the scene and are seen. Those that can't be bothered to make an appearance will find that their standing drops appropriately.

Fear and Loathing in Olympia: Return of the Prince 11/13/2008

On 11/13/2008, the good Captain Silver hosted a lawful Triumph ordered by Imperator John Nelson.

The Rostov Interfaith Gathering site was decorated in red and gold. Members of the Nelson Imperium and guests from across the region attended.

Imperator Nelson waited at the altar before the arch. He was flanked by the Imperial Seneschal and Prince Belson of Kitsap/Tacoma, Prince Wellington of Vancouver, Baron Malakai, and myself.

As Orator, I started the festivities.

I reminded everyone of the phrase that Imperator Nelson often uses in difficult times. Ubi concordia, ibi victoria. Where there is unity, there is victory. Prince Vasili Rostov had been abroad for the last several months. A mere blink in the eye to kindred existence and yet a few miscreants chose to attempt to take advantage. A few whispered that this city had been abandoned by Prince Vasili and by the Imperium. One tried to claim that which was not his. Prince Rostov, Uncle Vasili, fought numerous battles in Georgia and other foreign lands. He won a number of key victories that have brought safety and security to all of us.

By the order of Imperator Nelson, Ubi concordia, ibi victoria is now the official motto of the Nelson Imperium.

Prince Vasili Rostov entered the Triumph flanked by his honor guard, Agony, Misery, Acrimony, and Solace. All from the New Flesh. Sheriff Acrimony took the sacred duty of whispering into the good Prince’s ear during the parade. What he said is known only to Sherriff Acrimony, Prince Vasili, Imperator Nelson, and God.

Attendees flung roses at the feet of the triumphant Prince Vasili as he made his way to the altar. I heard some joyful weeping in the crowd. One poor lady could not contain her excitement and fainted when the good Prince nodded at her.

Prince Vasili Rostov stood before the altar and the crowd while Imperator Nelson crowned him with a wreath of victory and uttered the words Simul triumphamus. Together, we triumph.

Prince Wellington, Archbishop of the Lance, performed a traditional blessing upon Prince Vasili. He quoted a favorite prayer. “O Master, Lord our God, Who in Thy wisdom hast created man, and didst honor him with Thy Divine image, and place in him the spirit of life, and lead him into this world, bestowing on him the hope of resurrection and life everlasting.”

The Triumphant Prince Vasili Rostov took his throne and then allowed petitioners to present their gifts.

Lady Morrissey, Gangrel Priscus of the Evergreen Rose Imperium, presented Prince Vasili with a signed first edition copy of the book Lord of the Flies. It was generally agreed to be a thoughtful gift.

Lady Honor Rostov brought forth a letter. Alas, she was blinded and unable to read it. Prince Vasili honored us all by sharing her words. Lady Honor regretted that her prince had been without his seer for so long and so wanted to ensure that he was never again without her sight. Lady Honor presented her Prince with a jar containing her eyes. Very insightful.

Sheriff Acrimony presented Prince Vasili with a coat made from the enemies of the domain of Olympia and the Imperium. In addition, he shyly presented the Prince with a large white stuffed animal of a dog holding a heart that proclaimed “I wuff you!” and a pack of Pall Mall cigarettes.

Captain Silver offered forth a gold plated statue of Prince Vasili in the classic Jeffersonian style.

Harpy Vincenzo brought forth a large titanium V for his prince. Very classy.

Kuroi Nagaki presented his prince with a special flower.

After the gifts had been presented, Prince Vasili gave a rousing speech where he thanked Prince Belson, the New Flesh, Baron Malakai, and Papo for their support of his domain while he traveled and fought for all of us. Then, Prince Vasili asked that his primogen and court officers attend him in a private meeting and let it be known that the rest of the gathering was free to converse elsewhere.

It seemed that there was a general misunderstanding of the rules by a visitor to the Nelson Imperium. This isn’t a rule that generally needs to be told to others, but I can understand how a resident of a city with a weak Prince would be surprised by such a rule. It is gauche and dangerous to mock a superior predator, especially one who is without a doubt a strong ruler. You might find that you are stabbed, staked, and otherwise treated poorly in private by Sheriff Acrimony. I think Imperator Nelson said it best. “Do you know the difference between corn whiskey and rum?”

The answer? Well, let’s just say that it involved a lighter and lots of screams.

There was a number of questions about boons from Seattle from visitors to the Imperium and important residents. There was a concern that Seattle’s boons might suddenly be worthless. I expressed to everyone present that at the moment all boons coming in and out of Seattle were considered to be in good standing by all of the harpies that I know. I promised I would let them know should that change any time in the near future.

Speaking of Seattle, Lady Victoria Cottingham, Herald of Imperator Nelson, brought up an interesting moral question about the mysterious resurrection of Leon Vogol, *admired* member of the Invictus. It was explained that Leon Vogol had been killed by Levka Alexinova for suggesting that it was possible that Vogol could kill Consul Olivia Nova. Afterwards, unknown forces used mystical means to resurrect him from death. She asked how the Lance viewed such a miracle.

Sheriff Acrimony quoted Lance Saint, Etienne. Resurrection outside of God’s hands is against the third law. Archbishop Wellington said that the method of such a resurrection should be researched to verify that there were no undue taints of corruption. The crowd seemed to agree with the word of Archbishop Wellington. Very interesting. With the strange occurrences in Windsor, all such occurrences should be closely examined.

Trouble did find the domain in the presence of a strange mortal witch. Solace, Papo, Vincenzo, and Montello handled it quickly and quietly.

Rising Stars:

Johnny Vane, of the Carthians, from Seattle made an impressive showing. He traveled to a domain where he had no friends and made quite the impression. He kept cool under pressure even when terrible and potent monsters were asking him some very hard questions about his domain. He even kept calm when the young and foolish started asking him untoward questions about douchebags in Seattle. It isn’t easy to be a gentleman under such circumstances but you managed nicely.

Lady Victoria Cottingham, Herald of Imperator Nelson, was simply charming. I’m not just saying this because she claimed to be a fan. She had very interesting insights into a number of different situations.

Captain Silver was an excellent host. He has survived a couple of bumps in the road and shown himself to be quite wily. I imagine that he will go far.

Feared:

Prince Vasili, my dearest Uncle, we’ve all waited for you for so long. It brings to mind a quote from a favorite writer. That is not dead which can eternal lie. And with strange æons even death may die.

Papo and the entire 187 crew. It is impressive when you can, as they say, cut a bitch. It is devastating when you know when to apply such things and when to let boons handle a matter. In the past couple of weeks, I’ve seen 187 from all around the country really start working with boons and taking advanced steps that one would not suspect could come from a gang named the Trowzer Snake’s 187 Murder Posse. Papo, Simon, Solace, Montello, and the others in the crew deserve some kudos.

Loathed:

Vertigo of the Lance. I have a policy that I usually look the other way when a new guy makes a mistake. After that pass, I’m less generous. Especially when you made the exact same mistake. You need to figure out when to open your mouth and when to avoid getting into trouble. From this point forward, I want you to imagine a little Sorrow angel and a little Papo devil sitting on your shoulders. If you are doing something that Li’l Sorrow thinks is mockable and will make fun of you in his reports, I suggest not doing it. If you are doing something that Li’l Papo might claw your face for, I’d suggest rethinking the situation. When Li’l Papo and Li’l Sorrow nod their heads in unison, then proceed.

I will point out that unlike others; you took your punishment well and can perhaps learn from it and grow. You have a change to remake yourself. Use it wisely.

There was once a tradition of the passion play. And no, I’m not talking about Mel Gibson’s cinematic abortion.

There was a time when Christians gathered and performed plays about the Suffering of the Christ. Members of the Lance have their own passion plays. Sermons of Longinus, if you will. I recall my early days of my Requiem, when I listened intently at midnight mass.

Prince Wellington hosted a Grande Ballo at his personal Cathedral in Vancouver, this past Friday. The hall was rather large and impressive. It brought back memories of the church in my family villa. I’m told that there were Sermons of Longinus early in the evening to lift our spirits. Alas, I arrived a bit late and must have missed them.

Many arrived at the ball in costume, fitting with the theme of the evening.

The Marquis du Myra came dressed as a snake and attempted to give out apples. The costume was simply delightful. Ashe of the Crone accepted his wicked offer and took a bite into the fruit of knowledge. You’ll have to ask her what she learned. The Marquis also offered ladies gifts of glowing plastic bracelets with the caveat that they should give it to the gentleman that has earned their favor.

Prince Wellington and Priscus Morrissey was quite foreboding in their roman centurion armor.

I attended as Grief. I must say that I was quite surprised at the number of masochists in the room that wanted a chance to feel the sting of my flogger. Alas, the sadist must always say no.

Speaking of favors, I spotted Zeal of the New Flesh appearing to be quite tired, surrounded by almost every lady at the Ball. He also had a long chain of glowing plastic bracelets hanging from his familiar trench coat. Of course, by the end of the night, I noticed that Lady Ashe had the bracelets….

In other Lance news, it has been reported to me that Aleron the Saint declared that Levka Alexinova was the Pope. Etienne explained that they respected Levka due to his superior skills as a predator. Does this mean that Levka has joined the Lance? I suspect that we shall have to watch for changes in Mr. Alexinova’s wardrobe to discern the truth. If he starts wearing tall, pointy hats and more gold, then we all have our answer.

Misery of the New Flesh told an interesting tale. She wished that she had portrayed Livia, the mother Saint Longinus. As Jesus was born to the Virgin Mary, Longinus was born to the Whore Livia. She was the first strong example of his spiral through sin, taking from her the one thing she truly denied him, raping her. It was lust that truly began his descent, just as his final mortal act of using the Spear to stab Jesus was his last. Truly, the dark walnut size thing that remains of my heart actually beat just for a moment.

There were a number of important kindred present for Prince Wellington’s gathering: Consul Nova of the Evergreen Rose Republic, Republic’s Harpy Clair Marie, Primarch Nathaniel Green of the Nelson Imperium, and Alex Finn the *admired* Carthian.

Towards the end of the gathering, Imperator Nelson made a surprise appearance. He was instantly swarmed with well-wishers and those seeking his attention.

Rising Stars:

Levity made quite the stunning impression on the crowd. She had a number of admirers follow her about and offering to be her footstools.

Sir Liam O'Daherty has made this list twice now. He managed to remain a predator while cloaking himself with etiquette and taste. It simply isn’t that easy to remain so calm and polite when you can cut a bitch, as they say.

Feared:

Imperator Nelson always makes a good entrance.

Word has reached my ears from truly monstrous predators that Alex Finn has been making a lot of friends and being quite useful. In general, a keyboard won’t kill someone, but it can always reach someone willing to kill for you.

Loathed:

I’m told that a couple of visitors and residents were harassed by strange, unknown scruffy vampires. Is it possible that the retarded, inbreed Carfimins moved down south? I wouldn’t know as they declined to attack my entourage. I feel somewhat slighted. Was our car not good enough for you? Did you not find my outfit shiny?

I’m told that Boone and Sheriff Acrimony “handled” a couple of the prisoners. Very fitting for a celebration of the cruxfiction.

The more things change, the more they stay the same.

Baron Malakai, aka Platinum, is known for throwing lavish parties. This week was no exception at the Vasili Rostov Interfaith Gathering Site. The place had been decorated to the nines.

Luminaries from all over the region attended such as Prince Belson, Consul Olivia Nova, Primarch Nathanial Green, Priscus Levka Alexinova, Ettienne of the Lancea Sanctum, and a host of others too numerous to mention attended the party.

It was the sort of night that recharges a weary kindred’s requiem. There was much laughing and pleasant conversation to be had. I have rarely seen a party filled with such laughter. Although, just between you and I gentle readers, I did catch one unnamed vampire clutching one of the platinum statues of Prince Vasili and softly weeping, obviously missing his prince.

Later in the evening, we all boarded Captain Silver’s ship and enjoyed the moonlight.

As a boy, I was the sort that preferred to have my desert before dinner. As so, I shall discuss scandal before praise. First, I must say that I am very disappointed at the general lack of scandal that occurs in my presence. If you all behave, I shall have nothing to write about.

The first bit of scandal involves a game called Domestic Violence. Zeal and Ashe of the Crones decided that they wished to play a game. Such games are often played in private, but rarely discussed openly. I very much enjoyed the game, but I feel that it set something of a bad precedent.

As Zeal is merely an *acknowledged* member of the Imperium, he isn’t held to the same standards as those *valued* such as Lady Ashe. After speaking with Ashe, I realized that she doesn’t enjoy the responsibilities of such standing. As she put it, “I’m a goddess. Acting responsible is too much like work.” Therefore, let it be known that I *recognize* Lady Ashe’s desire to have less responsibility.

The second and more important scandal came from the Lancea Sanctum. It had been noted that Primarch Giada had not been present the last few weeks and that she had not spoken with Prince Belson in person on an important Imperial matter.

A number of important members of the Lance such as Ettienne, Raphael D'Santo, and Johnathon Merducchi gathered to discuss this problem. Afterwards, they spoke with the Primarchs and removed their support from Giada. They returned their support to Bishop Typhus. It was stated that Bishop Typhus was on assignment and would return shortly. Until then Johnathon Merducchi would serve as Acting Primarch with Misery acting as his second.

Ettienne asked me to announce that he had returned from his personal affairs and would be keeping an eye on the area. He also wished it known that he would send word via Johnathon Merducchi and Misery as to his wishes to various members of the Lance.

Obviously, Giada should not be considered to be *valued* in Kitsap.

And now, let's progress to the other changes within the Nelson Imperium.

Prince Belson wished me to make it known that he *recognized* my service to Kitsap and held my work with great esteem.

The Primarch Counsel accepted a new member this evening. The Primarch Council accepted a new member this evening Grim has stepped into the role of Carthian Primarch. Although Marko Kalistori has long been a *respected* member of Olympia and the Imperium his personal business leaves him unable to serve as Primarch.

And finally, Imperator Nelson has appointed Prince Belson as his Imperial Seneschal to watch over his Imperium when he is not present.

Rising Stars:

Captain Silver of the Invictus made quite the impression. I noted that his name was on the lips of the powerful and the influential.

Misery seemed to make quite the impression on her covenant this week.

Liam O'Daherty is one to keep an eye upon. I’ve rarely come across someone that seems to innately understand etiquette and social situations.

Primarch Grim had important people saying very good things about him.

Feared:

Prince Vasili. I’ve never seen such dread and excitement about a single vampire returning a domain.

Loathed:

Dominic and Josie. You guys had a chance to come clean and resolve your problems. What did you do? You complained. You complained and whined that the world was unfair and did not mold to fit your whims. You cried to the heavens that you should get to do what you want and never have to suffer the consquences of your actions. And then, you run. You hide. You want to dance, but only to your tune and when you feel that you will win. I do not feel pity for you. Only contempt, loathing, and distain.

Fear and Loathing in Vancouver 10/25/2008 Sweet Memories

Some places just naturally gain a reputation for hospitality. When I heard that Vancouver in the Evergreen Rose Republic was going to throw a party, I started clearing my calendar.

The nightclub was properly dark and had a primal smell to it. The mortals were properly plied with libation and quite friendly to strangers.

Prince Wellington arrived looking very rugged in his outdoors apparel.

Harpy Black from Portland made the scene looking very butch. It was a good look for him.

Bergen, Sherriff of Portland, made an appearance, but seemed quite depressed. I spent eight minutes with him trying to bring him cheer, but alas, it did not work.

However, the gathering was not without some drama. It seems that some prankster elected to start altering memories.

Wolfgang Adalbrecht, the Prisci Harpy, had some sort of mental assault laid upon him to remember that Acrimony of the New Flesh had promised to take him into the back alley and perform forced man love upon him. Harpy Adalbrecht showed great wisdom in seeking out members of the Evergreen Rose Republic Prisci Counsel to gain their protection.

Prisci Levka Alexinova questioned Acrimony about the incident. Acrimony did not remember making such promises to Harpy Adalbrecht, but conceded that it was indeed possible as it sounded like him. After using special means to determine the truth of the matter, Prisci Alexinova became greatly insulted that Acrimony might not find Harpy Adalbrecht attractive enough to offer forced man love to in a dark alley.

Worried that he might have offended Prisci Levka, Acrimony cashed in a trivial boon with myself to make the following announcement. Acrimony finds that Harpy Adalbrecht is a delectable piece of man flesh, well worthy of man love. Obviously, Prisci Alexinova would never have an unattractive harpy. However, he quickly added that he would never dare take anything that belongs to the Alexinovas unless they offered it. Harpy Adalbrecht is indeed blessed to have such protective Prisci watching over his assets.

I’m told there were other mental incidents, but I was unable to discover their nature.

There was another incident near the dance floor, but Prince Wellington and his entourage swiftly took care of it. It was handled so quickly and efficiently that I was unable to learn what had happened.

I had a pleasant conversation with a number of Crone, such as Delilah, Rowena, and Apophis. I fear that I may have bored them with tales of the New Flesh. We talked of the conscious, tantric magic, and evolution. I was quite impressed with the Crone in general.

Rising Stars: Frankie Bianchi. You are very charming and deceptively innocent looking. I suspect you are very dangerous. I know you are clever. I am impressed your family can deliver in less than twenty four hours.

Wolfgang Adalbrecht showed a lot of intelligence and class. And I’m told he is quite delectable.

Boone of the Dragons showed quite the hunger for knowledge. I approve.

Feared: Levka Alexinova. He is the monster that other monsters fear. He is that which others measure themselves by.

Loathed: Whomever was playing the memory games. I have my own memories I plan to share with you.

Keeper of Elysium, Aaron Locke, opened the Bremerton Elysium this past Friday to assembled members of the domain and guests.

The Eclipse Party for Manuel “Manny” Vasquez was well attended by various members of the Nelson Imperium. Some wished to pay respects. Others went only to ensure that Manny wasn’t going to surprise all of us once again.

I noted that the Ordo Dracul were out in full force. Imperial Primarch Viloktisce Karkarov made a stunning appearance along with the *admired* Dominion and the good Mr. Locke. Indeed, the *admired* Dominion agreed to serve as deputy for Sherriff Acrimony.

The Crones lead by Imperial Primarch Nathaniel Green, Baron Malakai, and Dr. Gabriel della Moretti arrived a bit late to the gathering. I’m told their private rituals were quite invigorating.

The surprising hit of the night was the ever charming Massimo Bianchi. He arrived with his entourage and seemed to be the delight of the gathering.

There was a slight gaffe by Carlos, once again, but this time he was wise enough to use the social tools at his deposal to make amends.

Once the gathering was winding down, it came time to honor and toast Manuel “Manny” Vasquez. Some said kind things. Others less so. Here are the highlights.

Papo of the 187 Murder Posse announced that all vampires serve a purpose and that it was Manny’s purpose to serve as an example of what not to do for others. He further warned against any that would harm his family.

Lady Ashe recalled Manny’s love of cinema and elected to play a small clip from a movie I had never heard of. I presume it had some sort of personal meaning.

Baron Malakai indicated that Manny would be missed, but likely not by many.

It was Sherriff Acrimony that spoke with the most eloquence and kindness. He reminded everyone that Manny was a friend to most of us at once point in time. And despite his actions, he survived against overwhelming political, social, and physical force for a long time, which indicated a potent predator. And that one day, he would recover and rejoin us with a more clarified mind.

I was disappointed that none of the Lancea Sanctum elected to give a Sermon of Longinus or speak on Manny’s behalf.

Afterwards, Keeper Locke elected to accept gifts for the Bremerton Elysium.

The Bianchi offered twenty bottles of bloodwyne. Much to my delight, Mr. Locke opened once of those bottles and shared it me. The aftertaste was quite charming. Never let it be said that Mr. Locke isn’t gracious as a host.

Dr. Gabriel della Moretti brought forth an impressive glass statue of Imperial Primarch Nathaniel Green holding the sigil of the Circle of the Crone. Dr. Gabriel della Moretti announced that the rogue Harlequin had chosen to commit suicide rather than face judgment by his covenant and that he had chosen to use Harlequin’s ashes in the creation of this gift. Oddly, the glass in the statue was slightly less transparent than Harlequin’s usual schemes.

Imperial Primarch Nathaniel Green indicated to me that he *recognized* the service that Agony and Acrimony had done for the domain and encouraged me to also recognize this. Indeed, few could argue their service to the Nelson Imperium.

Some of you might notice a change in my title. By selection of the Primarch Counsel and with the approval from Imperator Nelson, I’ve been promoted to Imperial Harpy.

Rising Stars: Massimo Bianchi raised the bar. Let’s hope the rest of the Bianchi Family can keep up with him.

Feared: Manuel “Manny” Vasquez touched a lot of lives in the Nelson Imperium and his reach was very potent.

Loathed: None, yet. However, I will note that mercy was offered to a select few if they attended this gathering. I noticed a distinct lack of their presence. Ludi incipiant.

Fear and Loathing in Olympia: Two Scoops of Shame 10/24/2008

There was a buzz in Olympia that Douche LaRue might make a public appearance after his rather public debacle in attempting to attack Sherriff Acrimony. Alas, his heightened senses of awareness of his potential doom lead him to not appear at the gathering. Douche LaRue was last seen on a mountain somewhere with Josie Heuvos trying to "quit each other."

By request of the Baron Malakai, Sherriff Acrimony offered mercy along with justice for those that participated with Douche LaRue to come forward.

Jacen Smith of the Dragons came forward, apologizing, and offered Acrimony a life boon. To prove his intent, Mr. Smith publically underwent the ancient Crone ritual Two Scoops of Shame. It's too horrific to repeat the details, but let's just say the audience was properly horrified. Mr. Smith struggled to complete the task, but did so with a great deal of style. Once he tasted Sherriff Acrimony's justice, Jacen Smith assured the audience that he would never act against the Nelson Imperium's Officers again.

Shannon of the Carthians chose to reject the offer of mercy and attempted to run. Jacen Smith (having properly learned his lesson) and Massimo Bianchi brought Shannon forth to Sherriff Acrimony for his final justice. Let this be a lesson to others. When mercy is offered to you by a vampire, accept it. It might not come a second time.

There was one other bit of scandal. A minion of Vertigo was caught spying upon Daniel Russo while he was accepting confession. The Second Estate, and those who seek their guidance, take this sort of thing very seriously. The matter was resolved, but those that take to spying should learn that there will be consequences in more grave
matters.

Rising Stars: Grim, Olympia Primogen of the Carthians, showed a great deal of class this evening. He is wily and insightful. I expect this kindred to go very far.

Feared: Acrimony and his Two Scoops of Shame.

Loathed: La Douche and Josie Heuvos. You tried to dance with a court officer in the Nelson Imperium and when you realized how out matched you were, you left your people behind to suffer the consequences. This cowardice is especially heinous as you lied to them. You told them that to be a loyal Dragon they had to assault Sherriff Acrimony. Your plans had no place in covenant politics when it was clearly a personal vendetta you were trying to settle. Poorly I might add. You've proven you don't care what happens to others as long as you get what you want.

With the national gathering and many of our local residents traveling, I had expected a quiet weekend. As a long time resident of Olympia said to be this weekend, that’s usually when the shit hits the fan in O-town.

The start of the gathering on 10/16/2008 was quiet and formal. Baron Malakai held a small informal court. My colleague, Harpy Vincenzo Delgardo, described most of the important events of the evening with a great deal of style. I shall attempt to add to his already amazing descriptions.

The *admired* dragon Dominion sought to resolve the problems caused by Dominic “La Douche” LaRue. She acted honorably and with a great deal of political savvy. Sadly, she could not know that the bunny eating Douchebag would steal complete and utter defeat from the jaws of victory. I wish it to be clear that she acted with a great deal of honor to all of us in Olympia and the blatant treachery and skullduggery should not be blamed on her.

I’ve left out Dominic from my last few reports out of respect for his sire Octavio Allman. I have a fondness for monsters. In this case, the apple rolled very, very far from the tree. One would dare to say the apple hopped into a cab and ran to the rabbit farm. I had planned to indulge in more bunny poking, but out of respect for Octavo, I am going to leave him to his sire. A terrifying prospect indeed. Some would even say that it is more frightening than Acrimony’s Two Scoops of Shame ritual.

And as for my old pisspot, Josie “Brokeback” Huevos, he made a lot of claims in Olympia. I tried to find a domain or a location that would claim him/her. Alas, the only record I found for him/her was a bar in Tijuana named Donkey Shows, Open All Night.

I contacted Citizen Prince Tanner from Seattle on this matter. He made it quite clear that Josie “Brokeback” Huevos did not speak for Seattle or any residents. Indeed, he was uncertain if he had ever met him. Citizen Prince Tanner has a reputation for honor and honesty that simply can not be questioned. I have likewise been assured that Josie “Brokeback” Huevos has no relationship with Mr. Cullpepper, Mr. Barrojo de Lagos, or Mr. Ellison of Seattle. And while I have not spoken to her on this matter, I am fairly certain that Josie “Brokeback” Huevos is not the bodyguard of Dominion. I am told that a number of Dragons are seeking to question Josie “Brokeback” Huevos and that if he is found that he should be delivered to either Mr. Cullpepper or Mr. Aaron Locke.

Saturday evening, I felt a bit froggy and so decided to attend the wedding of Lady Anida

Wilson and Lord Edward Darling in Eugene, Oregon. It was my first visit to Eugene, but expectations were quite high.

The church was divine. I felt like confessing my sins just for being there, but thankfully there were no confessors present. Otherwise, I would have had to remain in Eugene for several more nights.

The ceremony proceeded briskly, but with elegance. Sadly, fate had decreed that Lady Anida would once again be left at the altar. When the priest asked the audience if anyone had a reason to object to this union, the business of the Danse Macabre interrupted the ceremony.

Levka Alexinova and his impressive and well dressed entourage called a halt to the wedding to resolve a matter of honor. Levka staked Thomas Darling and then offered the following deal to Jonathan Darling. He proposed a winner take all duel to Jonathan Darling to resolve their blood feud between the Darlings and the Alexinovas. In exchange, the Alexinova Entourage would give the rest of the gathering a free pass for the evening. As the Alexinova entourage contained a collection of the most potent predators that this ecosystem could handle, it was a just and honorable offer. Jonathan Darling accepted the consequences of his actions and fought the duel to spare his domain.

Levka Alexinova and Jonathan Darling fought valiantly with such amazing speeds that most present could not witness the full scope of the battle. It ended with Levka Alexinova victorious and the deaths of Jonathan and Thomas Darling.

Despite having won the domain of Eugene from the terms of the duel, the Alexinova chose to simply leave, allowing Alder Ritcher to claim Praxis.

Having witnessed the duel, I returned to the wedding. It seems that Edward Darling had ran away leaving his bride, his sire, and his liege to fight along. It was a shame as she looked quite fetching in her white dress and the veil with just the slightest touch of red to remind others of the monster beneath the dress.The good Marquis du Myra offered to marry Lady Anida, but alas was rejected.

The rest of the evening was quiet, although someone shamefully defiled the wedding cake. The perpetrator was unknown, but I have my suspicions.

Rising Stars: James Sands proved to be quite impressive. He rolled in with the impressive Levka as a giant bear and growled. I’m told by those that understand the bear tongue that it translated into “Come get some, bitches!”

Feared: I live with one of the vilest monsters I know. I’m a bit jaded these days. Octavio Allman brought the tingle back to my spine and I think those present know why.

Loathed: La Douche LaRue and Josie Huevos. If you don’t understand why, re-read this report.

The Honored: This is a new section. I’m not normally quite so saccharin.

Jonathan Darling and Thomas Darling are to be fully commended. They dove into the Danse Macabre with two-fisted abandon and when the music changes, they did not lament their position. Lesser vampires would have cried to heavens, not understanding that every move has counter moves. They understood the game we all play in our Requiems and thus are to be honored and commended.

It has been dizzing few nights within the Nelson Imperium, Gentle Readers of the Night. With so many gatherings in such a short amount of time, I have elected to condense my travel log into a single report. I trust that you will forgive me.

On Thursday, Baron Malaki held a modest gathering in Olympia. There was a great deal of discussion and pleasant conversation. These are the quiet types of gatherings that recharge one's Requiem. It is the reason that monsters seek out other monsters rather than sit alone at home weeping into our pillows about the endless night.

Papo and Captain Silver exchanged a few tales much to the delight of an enthralled audience. Primarch Giada of the Lance took confessions and offered spiritual advice. Sadly, there was a black spot on the evening. Former Sheriff Essadess had offended Papo due to some personal business. Baron Malaki decreed that Kitsap Sheriff Acrimony would punish him by publically biting off his arm.   The deed was done and to his credit Essadess took his punishment well enough to earn my respect. He even posed for a picture for Acrimony's Wall of Punishment.

On Friday night, Joy of the New Flesh held a gathering in the Shinju Hari in Port Orchard. It was an intimate gathering marred by the strange absence of the host. Joy arrived a bit late with the information that Uin had developed a taste for vampire blood and didn't seem to care about where and when she took it.

Boldly, Prince Belson immediately took charge and organized an assault force to deal with this danger to the masquerade and had Uin summoned to the grounds of the secluded Shinju Hari. When the creature arrived, her beast was the most potent of any vampire any of us, including Nathaniel Green, had ever felt.   Uin wasted no time attacking us. She clawed into Joy with a force that few of us had ever seen. Prince Belson, Primarch Nathanial Green, Imperial Harpy Claire Marie, newcomer Rook, Joy and I engaged the monster. Thanks to information provided by Zeal, Uin was able to be defeated without endangering the masquerade. An artistic rendering of this epic battle will be for sale at a later date.

Sadly, Prince Belson noted his disappointment that Alexander McKael had not kept his word to be by his side. Anyone that holds disappointment from the Prince of a city cannot be a *Recognized* member of the city.

On Saturday night, Captain Silver hosted a grant event on a floating casino. The Invictus should be quite proud. August Guests from all over the region attended.

The belle of the ball was Imperator Nova of the Evergreen Rose. There was a constant stream of well-wishers and petitioners seeking her attention.   I knew she was popular, but I was surprised by the large number of the Invictus seeking her out to pledge themselves to her.

Imperator Harpy Claire Marie also made quite the splash with her pirate themed outfit. It seemed that almost everyone was simply dying to be with her. It was appreciated that she took time out of her quite busy schedule to whip one of the guests into shape. I understand that a grand time was had by all involved and a few guests were suitably jealous.

It should also be noted that Lord Alexander Adalbrecht III, Pricus of the Ventrue in the Evergreen Rose Imperium, showed a great deal of wisdom in handling of certain matters.

Prince Graham Wellington of Vancouver was spotted making the rounds with his entourage. Primarch Giada was also present and looking quite fetching. Obviously, the Lance were there in full force.

I'm told that Captain Silver gave quite the performance with his pirate shanty. I'm sorry that I missed that one. I was told it was not for the faint of heart. I'm told that Lady Ashe was appreciative of the command performance.

Gabriella San Giovanni brought a matter of boons before the assembled harpies. It was such an unusual matter that even Imperator Nova sat in on the meeting.

It seems that Fatima Beauchane has decided that the rules of our society do not apply to her. Fatima registered a lifeboon to Gabriella with the august Mr. Wilkins, Harpy of Olympia. When she found out that Sherriff Acrimony wished to purchase said boon Fatima attempted to rescind the boon owed for her life.

The harpies assembled agreed that once a boon was registered, it was a debt owed and could not be rescinded without permission of the one that held the boon. Imperator Nova also pointed out that boons were assets and thus could be traded freely. In order to assure that Gabriella would receive a fair value for the lifeboon over Fatima, Imperator Nova and I each paid Gabriella San Giovanni a minor to transfer the lifeboon on Fatima over to Acrimony. Acrimony paid an additional three packs of cigarettes to Gabriella SanGiovanni.

This transfer has been blessed and registered with the following harpies: Imperial Harpy Claire Marie, Harpy Sorrow of Kitsap/Tacoma, Harpy Wilkins of Olympia, and Harpy Black of Portland.

Sadly, the entire night was not without tragedy. It is my duty to report the fate of Manual "Manny" Vasquez of the Lancea Sanctum. I long considered Manny a friend. I moved to Tacoma in order that I might be closer to him many years ago.   When I awoke from torpor after a few years, I attempted to reconnect with my old friend. He had changed somehow. He was bitter, angry. It did not suit him.

On Saturday night, Manny's beast finally caught the best of him. I do not know the exact details of what caused his final frenzy, but he could no longer contain the burning anger that lived in his very blood. Nathaniel Green, Reeve of the Nelson Imperium, insured that Manny would not harm any of the guests. I am told that Manny will be sleeping for a time to let his blood calm. Perhaps after a few decades I will have my friend once again.

Rising Stars:
Captain Silver hosted a fine evening and I expect great things from him in the future.

Feared:
Imperial Harpy Claire Marie should be feared not only for her skills with a whip, but also for her ability to make others desire the lash.

Loathed:
Fatima, I wash my hands of you. Here endth the lesson.

Isabella San Giovanni, I've never met you. I'm sure you had a good reason to tell people that Fatima was kidnapped in Vancouver by fifty armed mortal vampire hunters. I'm sure you were just protecting your friend and didn't expect this obvious fabrication to be mentioned in front of the Imperator over Vancouver. I can understand wanting to protect a friend, but next time tell a better lie. Vampire hunters don't kidnap vampires and then give them one phone call. I'm sure you didn't mean to imply that the Evergreen Rose couldn't maintain the masquerade. However, it is possible that you can learn the lesson that Fatima did not. I would start offering boons to Imperator Nova and the Court of Vancouver and then avoid attempting to rescind them.

Gerard, aka the whipping boy. I can understand wanting Imperial Harpy Claire Marie's attention. Some like being the center of attention. But alas, if you gain her attention in such a fashion, she will not respect you in the morning. And likely, neither will the rest of us. In these modern nights, they have clubs where you can go to gain your fair share of abuse.

The Importance of Boons and Angry Vampires:
Here is a bit of advice from a harpy. Use or not at your own will. I know of one vampire out there that needs to read this. I suspect others do as well. If another vampire is angry with you for whatever reason and you don't wish to fight with them offer them a boon.

Almost any sane vampire will accept a boon over an enemy and drop the matter. If a boon is registered and the matter is not dropped, then you have protection from the harpies. Further, it is likely that your enemy will now see you as a potential resource and it could lead to a future reconciliation. If you choose to exist outside the boon system, then you live and die on your own.

Some of my travel logs are more fun to write than others. I'll let the gentle reader decide which one this was.

Truth be told, it is difficult not to love the city of Portland. It has the feel of a modern city, but with the little quirks that reminds you that this is a place you could explore for days and never get a complete map. There are so many interesting places to visit such as the Beverly Cleary Sculptures at Grant Park, the Soaring Stones, and, of course, the Acropolis.

My entourage had intended on arriving to the gathering on time, but alas the siren call of the Acropolis kept derailing the journey. Papo had told me that the Acropolis was a place to visit, but I had no idea that one could lose several nights merely by visiting. If there was a map of Portland drafted in ancient mariner style, there would be a skull and crossbones over this strip club with an inscription of danger. Warning: sailors may lose their time, money, and quite possibly their kidneys.

Once we managed to leave the Acropolis, we realized that it was time for the Portland gathering. We arrived at a swanky business building downtown and were quietly ushered into a lavish ballroom. Imperator Olivia Nova and Prince Frederick Saint James held a perfectly brief and to the point court where local edicts and laws were announced. I’m certain that the local harpies will share the more important announcements with those unlucky enough to not be able to attend.

Imperator Nova wished one new change publicized as it seems there had been confusion by this in the past. Acknowledgement within the Evergreen Rose Imperium now rests solely within the power of the Imperator. Local princes must approve of an applicant before petitioning the Imperator.

Nicholas Black, harpy of Portland, hosted a Game of Fools. The first two candidates for fools were met with some skepticism. However, the final selection drew a vast applause from those in attendence leaving no doubts to Mr. Black’s skills. Uncle Machiavelli said it best. The one who adapts his policy to the times prospers, and likewise that the one whose policy clashes with the demands of the times does not. It is surprising how few kindred can grasp this fundamental truth of the universe. I expect to see great things from Mr. Black.

Lady Heather Morrissey, Priscus of clan gangrel, took it upon herself to sing an enchanting melody for Harpy Black that drew a vast applause, started by Imperator Nova herself. Indeed, there was much praise for the rolling of the rick.

Afterwards, there was much conversation and enjoying the fellowship of other creatures of the night. Times like these can recharge a Requiem and remind us why we actually

Lady Heather Morrissey, Priscus of Clan Gangrel: She wowed the audience and showed a great deal of political savvy later in the evening. I suspect that in the future others will listen to her rather than trying to talk over her.

Nicholas Black: There will always be good and bad nights. Those with style learn to handle both.

Feared:

Imperator Olivia Nova. I’ve always felt that the proper word in the proper place can be more effective than an atomic bomb. Imperator Nova is the example that proves the rule.

Dante of clan nosferatu, the People’s Champion, aka The Bat-man. He didn’t make an appearance, but his presence was certainly felt.

Loathed:

Burgan, of clan nosferatu, sheriff of Portland. It is tacky to ask for boons from someone for something you didn’t do. It is foolish to do so when one can walk the extra ten feet and verify what actually happened with Imperator Nova. Mr. Burgan, one would hope that you would be quickly offering boons to various wronged parties.

Fear and Loathing in Kitsap 9/19/2008

The thing about a truly great party is that it is almost impossible to create. You have to have the right mix of a good place, charming company, and a special spark.

Aaron Locke provided a delightful venue, a private club on one of Kitsap’s exclusive golf courses. It was private, yet provided all of the creature comforts.

Interesting people:

Imperial Harpy Claire Marie from the Evergreen Rose Imperium made quite the splash at the party. I had quite the time comparing notes with her.
Gabriel SanGiovanni and his wife Wendy were quite the delight. And, as a bonus, Mr. SanGiovanni provided us all with a vibrant lesson on the anatomy of a squirrel. I hope they choose to grace us with their presence again.
The Dragons were well represented by new arrival Sam seems quite the upstanding fellow.
Taa'eese'he Poeso and Ashe were both dressed to the nines. They were quite the bees’ knees as they once said in the fashionable parts of town.
New arrival Moxie also caused quite the stir with her bold and innovative experiment. I imagine that many will be watching her in the months to come. I hope that she takes a look at what each of the covenants have to offer before choosing.

Party Fouls:

It seems like there is always one person that shows up to a party and can’t behave themselves. This time it was the shadow creature that somehow thought it would be appropriate to attempt to nibble on the delectable Imperial Harpy Claire Marie’s shapely legs. I can well understand the temptation, but to do so without permission is simply unacceptable. Thankfully, Zeal stepped forward and protected her valiantly with his flashlight. Yes, that’s true folks, this man about town recommends that henceforth all creatures of the night start packing flashlights and check your duracells.

On perhaps a related topic, Prince Belson sent out Joy and Acrimony to investigate some strange creatures that happened to decide to take out their bestial hungers on some local squirrels. They returned with the creatures and their unusual master.

Announcements:

Prince Belson wished me to announce that Alexander McKael would no longer be his sheriff. He wished me to note that he would consider his new sheriff, Acrimony, to serve as his right hand. It was commented that Prince Belson indeed possesses a mighty pimp hand.

And now to a sad bit of business. The business of being a harpy can have positive moments and sometimes uncomfortable moments. The worse thing a harpy can announce is that someone has willingly chosen to break a boon. When an ill mannered miscreant ignores a boon, it is a threat to us all. It is the one thing that can unite enemies to a single purpose.

Roland “Harlequin” Thibault, of the Circle of the Crone, decided not to attend this party. Zeal, also of the Crone, publically announced two weeks previously that he was cashing in his major boon over Harlequin to attend this function and resolve some problems. Harlequin declined to show up and in fact declined to make alternative arrangements. As Harlequin registered this boon personally with my office, he’s hardly in a position to suddenly forget that this boon existed.

I spoke with Imperial Harpy Claire Marie extensively on this matter and we agreed that there could only be one judgment, one response. Let it be known that henceforth Harlequin of the Circle of the Crone shall be known as a *boon breaker*. Once a miscreant dishonors us all by refusing to pay a boon, all of that miscreant’s boons that are owed to him are null and void. To be part of the system, you have to honor the system.

Let the word go forth that this sad soul will not honor boons. Do not allow him the privilege of being in your debt. Do not allow him to collect on debts owed. Let his words and deeds die upon the wind.

Fear and Loathing in Seattle 9/13: A Travel Log

They say you can never go home again. I suppose that’s true to a point. No place ever stays the same. And, none even an immortal vampire remains the same. Experience and the times change us all.

Last evening, Lord Andrew Moore hosted a gathering at the Taneveran Elysium, in downtown Seattle. It is a strange, awe inspiring town-house mansion that seems to have the ability to hide from the notice of the mortals. Very impressive.

The evening started out with whispers about a duel that had occurred in Portland the night before. Several in attendance were speaking of an epic duel between Dante and Bromm. I won’t go into the details of how the duel ended, but I’m told it was resolved with a baseball bat in an uncomfortable place. No, not the back of a Volkswagen.

Lord Andrew Moore offered to his hosts a bloodwyne. This one had the feel of an older gentleman reflecting near a warm fire upon a chilled evening. Simply enchanting.

As expected, there was much conversation and discussion. The surprise announcement of the night was Culpepper stepped down as Prince of Seattle in favor of the Tanner O'Neil the Carthian.

Culpepper assured the astonished crowd that he would still consider Seattle under his protection and that under his reign the chaos that was Seattle calmed and transformed the city into a nice place to visit and a nicer place to live. He offered the first anvil he ever plied his smithing craft to the Elysium and a sword from his fallen mentor. I believe the implications were quite clear.

Prince O’Neil let it be known that all acknowledgements and banishments that were levied by Culpepper would be maintained by his new praxis. He proclaimed that Seattle had always been a different place. He used Thomas Hobbs’s famous quote to describe how most vampires see existence. “Life is short and violent, and people live by the law of the jungle, where only the strong survive and morality is defined by whoever wins.”

O’Neil proclaimed that he believed in power to the people and tolerance without reason.

He issued the following notices:

No bloodbinding against the will of another
The right of destruction extends to all mortals in Seattle and ghouls. This includes in cases of protecting the masquerade. If you got yourself into trouble, you can get yourself out of it without murder.
Do not provoke another to their beast.

There were a number of local and visiting luminaries present.

Raising stars from the Nelson Imperium: James Sand, Phear, and David Russo were in attendance.

Visiting dignitaries that I had a chance to meet include:

Imperator Nelson made quite the splash in his brief appearance.

Imperial Harpy Claire Marie from the Evergreen Rose Imperium looked quite fetching in her dress.

Once doesn’t go to Seattle without noticing the impressive gangrel Culpepper. While he was Prince, all within Seattle were undoubtedly assured of their safety.
Archon David Baron seemed quite the charmer.
Lord Andrew Moore was the perfect host.
Gabriel SanGiovanni was quite witty. An interesting fellow to speak with.
Xavier Ellison lectured just a bit on the topic of a global culture for vampires. Some of the things that he said were quite interesting. He has promised that he will provide me with an essay to distribute among my gentle readers for their edification.

Feared:

I noted that Culpepper was quite feared by most that attended.
This Dante fellow from Portland. I shall never look at baseball the same.

Loathed:

None at the gathering earned a spot on this list in my presence. Of course, I’m told that there might be a new person worthy to be mentioned on this list, but I’m going to let that play out for now.

I am told that a number of people previously on this list might actually be taking responsibility for their actions. I’m leaving them off this week, just on the off chance that might be true.

Fear and Loathing in Olympia: 9/11/2008

When traveling, one never knows what one can expect.

This time, I'm delighted to report in my travel log that a grand time was had by almost all in Olympia.

The lovely Giada Gialotti, Primarch of the Lancea Sanctum, hosted the event in a secured and safe location. Olympia is lucky to have such a charming host.

I admit that I was somewhat disappointed that certain individuals with a great deal of internet courage declined to attend. Alas, there is always next time. And yes, thank you contacting me and telling me you are an enemy. It always makes it easier to remember exactly who you are. No, I won't argue with you in public. I'll simply wait until I see you.

On to more pleasant topics of conversation…

I have been asked spread two tales of bravery.

First, Papo wanted it known far and wide that Krause was brave to show his face in a hostile environment. This Crone surely does not have a case of internet courage. Indeed, I was impressed that he willingly left with Papo to see the wise and *admired* Crone Nathaniel.

Second, Phear of the Lancea Sanctum showed her face in public after being mislead by a rogue element of her covenant. She boldly accepted her punishment by Acrimony, which was a biting off of her leg, and showed a lot of courage. Her primarch seemed very impressed with her resolve.

Kudos to the both of you for facing your problems. Both of you are vampires that I respect.

The evening ended pleasantly enough. Giada had enough entertainment to make any daeva proud.

The crowning moment was when newcomer Beth accepted the various challenges and decided to kiss Acrimony on the mouth. Truly, I had never seen a more hideous sight.

Rising Stars:

Daniel Russo: This Lancea Sanctum fellow is very pretty. Man pretty. And he is also very smart. I expect grand things from this fellow.
Phear: I can only imagine what levels of greatness that she will achieve under the watchful guidance of Giada DeLaurentiis

Feared:

Papo: He's fast, strong, and tough. And his real weapon is his voice and reason.

Loathed:

None yet: Everyone that actually attended the gathering was quite polite AT the actual gathering. Alas, internet courage will quickly change that I image.
